Artist's Commentary - Mario Padovani

I have always turned to music to express my joy in life or to seek solace from it's pains. After the breakup of my marriage in the Fall of 1998, it wasn't long before I found myself in the recording studio. I set myself to the task of recording songs which had been written at various stages of my life with my ex-wife . . . from the birth of our friendship to the realization of our love for each other to our painful seperation. As the project neared it's end, I realized it was really a love letter that I had been writing all along to her and so the title song, "A Letter to Your Heart," was born. Several of the songs were actually recorded during a previous project several years ago and had been written prior to meeting my innamorata. In light of where I found myself in life, these songs took on a new dimension for me and so I have included them in this collection.

I hope that you enjoy this music and find it meaningful in your own life. If you have experienced the loss of one you so deeply love, I hope it may be of some comfort to you.

Love Will Find a Way

Or so all dreamers believe. This song was written back in 1991 with the recording here produced in 1995. As a songwriter I've always had a tendency to lean towards the hope of romance and the bittersweet taste of unrequited love. This is about the painful hope and those endless questions of the heart when only one seeks more from a close friendship . . . "Lying here dreaming I wonder do you know . . . and if I told you this secret would I lose my place in your world?"

Casual Kisses

Casual Kisses was written back in 1993. It has always amazed me that the mere whisper of a kiss can set one's world completely off balance. So much can be read into something which means so little . . . "you've led me to the doorstep of your dreams . . . now why won't you let me in?"

All the King's Horses

This was also written during the summer of 1993. I always wondered exactly what caused Humpty-Dumpty to fall so hard that nothing in this world could ever put him back together. In my mind it had to be love. After the breakup of my marriage in the Fall of 1998, I found myself coming back to this song time and time again as my own fairy-tale was falling to pieces . . . "I believe in fairy-tales, Mother Goose and wishing wells . . . but I never believed I could ever fall so hard."
